Jože Godec discovered his love for cooking as a child, learning from his mother Marija and using fresh ingredients from their garden. He has always been passionate about using local ingredients and is meticulous in catering to vegans.

Jože honed his skills at culinary school in Bled and gained experience in top hotels in Bled, Ljubljana, and abroad. Recognized for his culinary excellence, he earned recognition by Gaullt & Millau, fallstaf and others. He continues to create top-notch cuisine, following new trends and using high-quality local ingredients.

Do you have any vegan options or do you accommodate food allergies or restrictions?

We are known as the best vegan restaurant in the area and also accommodate other dietary restrictions. Please let us know of restrictions in advance at the time of booking a table.

Do I need a reservation, or do you accept walk-ins?

We have limited number of tables available and want to provide all guests with exceptional experience, therefore table reservations are required. Depending on availability, we might also accept walk-ins. Our Bohinj Restaurant caters to pre-booked groups of a maximum of 40 diners.

What are your hours of operation?

Breakfast is served daily, lunch is served Thu-Sun and dinner Wed-Sun. Restaurant is open until 22:00.

Phenomenal Dinner!

The Sunrose 7 restaurant is absolute perfection from the ambiance to the food and wine to the staff. This was one of the best meals we had in Slovenia (and we ate a lot of good meals!). Each course of the dinner was thoughtfully prepared, beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. And the wine pairing is a must with each wine perfectly paired to the course. The staff took excellent care of us and were kind and interesting and engaging. I highly, highly recommend eating dinner here!

As amazing as Bohinj and Triglav!

First time in Bohinj. What an amazing place. And first time in Sunrose 7, a place totally fitting Bohinj. We were served amazing food in a understated, modern and yet cozy restaurant. The chef is amazing, and catered for our dietary needs (vegan) without compromising on quality. The rest of the staff was also friendly and fascinating. The sommelier served us amazing bio-dynamic Slovenian orange wine to pair with the food. We had an unforgettable evening!

Wonderful place! Highly recommended.

The food was extremely tasty, the wines excellent and the service very friendly. We went two nights in a row, because we were delighted the first time, so we came back the second night. We tried the fish and meat menu and both were very tasty. Thanks for the new experience.

Delicious, seasonal food

We were staying locally and as foodies I always have a look to see what is available locally and as the ethos, food and reviews looked good, we thought we'd book a table and were not disappointed. A beautiful setting, wonderful service and excellent food. As I am pescatarian the chef kindly adapted some of the dishes but each still contained depth and flavour. The main courses - both the trout and the beef were exceptional... we will be back next time we visit.

One of the most delightful encounters with vegan fine dining. Each dish, particularly the leek sauce and raw mango cake, was incredibly tasty. The staff was exceptionally friendly, ensuring our comfort with vegan meat. The four-course menu was more than reasonably priced for such exceptional food!

Dinner at Sunrose 7 was a highlight of our trip to Italy and Slovenia. The restaurant made us a five course meal off menu (with advance notice) that was one of the best meals of our trip - and we’ve had many excellent meals. The food is imaginative, flavorful and elegantly presented. My only sadness was that the restaurant was closed the following night which was our last night in Bohinj. Our server was very friendly and helped us find the perfect wine to accompany the meal.

Wonderful ingredients and surroundings

Excellent service throughout the meal, the chef even popped by at the end to say hello and check everything was ok. Super accommodating of any allergies or intolerances. All the food produce was locally source and utterly delicious and the wine pairings were excellent. A real showcase of Slovenia's finest produce.
